Named "tent city" for veterans specifically along the Florida-Georgia border, there are instances of veterans living in tents or temporary shelters due to homelessness. However, many resources are available to help veterans transition to permanent housing and receive supportive services. 

Athens, Georgia:

In Athens, Georgia, there's a government-funded homeless encampment called First Step that includes tents to provide temporary housing. This initiative, run by First Step, provides a safe, fenced-in area with basic amenities and access to supportive services. The program aims to help individuals transition into permanent housing or treatment options.

How we are trying to help:

EY Art Charity is organizing bi-monthly trips to tent cities in Athens, Georgia, where veterans are temporarily staying. Your donation will help fund trucks with water, food, hygiene supplies, and essentials, along with services like haircuts and medical checkups from registered nurses. Your support will provide veterans with the basic needs they deserve as they work to get back on their feet.

Finding homes:

EY Art Charity is a volunteer-based program, but we do require some paid positions to help manage our website and oversee key organizational projects. Few critical full-time position are dedicated to recruiting and qualifying homes to host veterans, ensuring they meet VA standards to provide a safe and welcoming environment. Your donation is essential to the success of our charity, allowing us to continue these important efforts and provide veterans with the care and support they need.
